Hello Everyone!

I'm doing some experimenting with broadcasting on HamSphere. As of this moment I'm streaming live scanner audio on 6.260 in the BC band. It's the audio from my scanner monitoring all public service agencies for Galveston County TX.

At times I may switch it over to tbe BBC World Service as the mood strikes me.

If I want to talk on HamSphere the broadcast will be temporarily unavailable.

Comments are welcome!

Howdy, John,

That sounds like a pretty nifty use of the BC band here on Hamsphere. Many thanks!

Very 73,

Good idea. I was thinking of maybe Amateur HF receiving feeds such as the Maritime Net and emergency nets. This would give those new to ham radio and or hams that have no ham radio RF receiving capabilities a chance to monitor and learn net control and traffic handling procedures.

Who knows,we could set up a Hamsphere emergency traffic net similar to Skywarn WXVOIP net.

Hello John.

If I make ask,are you using a soundcard / software interface or going"old school" with scanner mono-plug audio out to PC mic in ? I went "old school" from HF radio out to PC mic in but had some difficulty controling audio on Hamsphere. Audio spiked and began getting mic output warning from Hamsphere. Too many levels to twik between both. Leaning toward rigblaster interface option but $$$ for what it is for. Audio only. Might be waste of hardware.

Hi John,

Does your scanner feed include the U.S. Coast Guard in action?

We can hold MULTIPLE INSTANCES of such a net on ALL the bands (Not just the BC band) & hold them at different times of the day (Which VERY MUCH like the HF Nets)

Heck, even when there's NOT an emergency, we can still use the nets to pass routine traffic to keep our skills sharp & train prospective new hams so theyre READY TO GO once they get their ticket :)

Just my opinion :)
