OSR Applications

The HamSphere OSR concept or Operator Selected Remotes has been an interesting part of HamSphere 4.0 for over two years now.
For an extra yearly subscription an operator could start a "remotely operated transceiver" in a different part of the world and experience the conditions just like being there physically.

However, the management of these OSRs has been tiresome. Everything from verifying their legal status, creating them to incomplete payments to disputes over locations, fights, quarrels and mistakes in coordinates etc.
Due to these hurdles and difficulties as well as the importance of maintaining the realism on the system, the HamSphere management has today decided to stop issuing further OSRs.

We have decided to let the existing operators with non expired OSRs maintain their stations as long as they are paid for in full (yearly subscriptions).

Expired OSRs have been scheduled for removal 29 Jun 2022 00:00 UTC

Further to recent posts regarding OSR Operations, we recognise the contribution to activity on Hamsphere that the OSR Stations have generated.

It is our intention to pause the processing of new OSR applications for a period of at least 6 months, during which time we will revise the application process and review application eligibility.

OSR stations that are covered by a valid subscription prior to 29 Jun 2022 00:00 UTC, will remain live until such time as their subscription expires without renewal. Note that all OSR subscription renewal periods will be minimum 12 months.
