DX0/EK6VA Vahan will be active from Spratly islands
Date: 11 Feb 2017 From 4: 00utc (for a few hours only) QTH: Pagasa island [AKA Thitu island] - AS051 Grid: OK71de Thitu Island (Tagalog: Pag-asa, literally "hope"), having an area of 37.2 hectares (92 acres), is the second largest of the naturally occurring Spratly Islands and the largest of the Philippine-administered naturally occurring Spratly Islands. It lies about 480 kilometres (300 mi) west of Puerto Princesa City. Though administered as part of Kalayaan, Palawan, Philippines, it is also claimed by China, Taiwan and Vietnam. Vahan got an official permit to visit the island for a few hours only. He also received exceptional permission to use the 3G network to run HamSphere 4.0. This island is very difficult to access because it is closed to tourism and is supplied only by flights of the Philippine air force.
