Is it possible to extend filter frequency response?
2010-02-27 07:28
Hello,
I have a problem with sound quality. When I test my microphone (Studio Condenser Behringer C-1) on test frequency (50.12345MHz), no sibilants are coming through. Even when I turn equalization knob HIGH (12kHz) at maximum level +15dB on my equalizer, nothing happens. Sibilants are usually somewhere 6-10kHz, but filter setting 1 gives only 3.8kHz, which is too low for high quality transmission. So, is it possible to add 3rd setting which gives better frequency response than 3.8kHz? (8kHz would be optimal)

Thanks

Remember that this is a simulation of real HF radio so you will have a narrow audio bandwidth thus negating any high quality audio input.

As we are simulating the 2.0Khz to 2.9kHz J3E modes (ITU 2K40J3E 2K70J3E 2K90J3E) the audio bandwidths are very narrow - 400 Hz ~ 2.4 kHz, 300 Hz ~ 2.7 kHz, 200 Hz ~ 2.9 kHz, and 100 Hz ~ 3.0 kHz respectively at -6dB.

There are two reasons not to expand these ranges. Firstly it will increase the IP bandwidth required by both the user and the server. Secondly it will increase the interference across the bands caused by stations using too much power of having thier mic gains turned up too high.
