Suggested steps to take when having issues with HamSphere 4 Software.
This list of suggestions was written for a PC (Windows) based system. The author is not familiar with OS, MAC or Ipad and has no experience with these platforms. Again, this is written for MS-Based Computer.
When you have an issue with your HamSphere 4 software not starting or not being able to log on here are a few suggested steps you can take before running with your hands in the air and hair on fire to Facebook to scream about it.
If your HS4 software will not launch or you get the Port 5000 error here are some “suggested” steps you could try:

1. Restart your Computer and your Router/Modem
a. Power down your computer
b. Power down your Router/Modem
c. Wait about 1 minute then power the Router/Modem wait till it is fully running all indicator lights illuminated, then
d. Start your computer

2. Step one did not work still have the issue do the following steps:
a. Press and hold the Windows Key and tap the “R” key
b. In the pop up window type “TEMP” without quotes
c. Hit enter your file manager will pop up hover your mouse over one of the files in the right hand window press CTRL key and A key to select all
d. Tap your delete key – you may get a further box with the word “Continue” and a shield symbol click on Continue
e. There will be some files left behind, that is ok, click on the “Do this for all current items” and click on SKIP button
f. Press and hold the Windows Key and tap the “R” key
g. In the pop up window type “%TEMP%” without quotes
h. Hit enter your file manager will pop up hover your mouse over one of the files in the right hand window press CTRL key and A key to select all
i. You will have the CONTINEU with the badge show up hit continue and again a few files maybe left behind select “Do This For All Current Items” and click skip.
j. Go to your Recycle Bin usually in top left corner of your desktop and RIGHT CLICK and selelct Empty Recycle Bin – when asked if you ant to permanently delete these click yes, then Continue. NOTE: it is a good idea to do steps a through j on a regular basis to keep your computer clean it does help.

3. One step I always do is “Run as Admin” to do that go to where you have the ICON for the HS4 Software, RIGHT CLICK on the Icon and a pop up menu appears select “MORE” then click “Run as Administrator” a dialog box will appear click on YES and HS4 should launch.

4. Restart your computer; relaunch HS4, if it still does not start, you could uninstall and reinstall. I strongly urge if you are going to do this to download and use a program called REVO (free but you can purchase the pro version). Reason is that if you simply uninstall then reinstall you are repeating the problem. With REVO it takes out all components of the software and you are basically starting a fresh install. Do not worry about your Rigs…if you saved them in the editor you can recover the rigs on the HamSphere Web Page. (someone will ask where is REVO..Google is a marvelous tool)

5. If you still cannot launch go to the HamSphere Web Page and at the bottom of the page and scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “CONTACT US” then “CONTACT HAMSPHERE” your callsign and email address (that you supplied) will appear then select from the Category and priority and fill in the information being as detailed as you can. Once you submit you will get an email stating that they have received your message. (if you can supply screen captures this will assist the support folks to help you with your issue with HS4)

Server Issues:
We have all heard much about server issues in HamSphere and if you are having issues you can use PingPlotter. It was suggested, on the last net, that those suggesting this could not interpret the information that Ping Plotter presents. The suggestion to use Ping Plotter (and again Google searches are great and the ping plotter is free to use) was to find out if you had breaks or no contacts with the Server. All other data should be captured with screen grabs and sent to Support…this was the purpose of this suggestion. Not many of the HS4 users are “IT Experts” but being good citizens of the HS world we try to help as best we can.
