Hello Jim
I'm pretty sure Kelly checks to see if the prefix is the country code and the suffix after HS is chosen by the operator. Have you heard people with the wrong prefix? Just curious.

Hello Jim
Okay..... well I thought that when you sign up you "have" to use your country code prefix but I may be wrong. And, if I am wrong it wouldn't be the first time!! hi hi
When things slow down for Kelly, I'll ask him about that. I understnad that it would be a good practice to use the right prefix's so you can get an idea where the other station is.

Hello Jim.

Good question and I shall shine some light on the subject:

Old users with bogus callsigns like "blab blab" may login to the portal and thus you will see them logged on. But they may not upgrade that call for Transceiver use.

They will have 3 choices.
1. If they claim to be HAM they need to send license to me and I will put their call on the exception list.
2. If they belong to a mjor DX society such as AT, SD, IR or WO they need to send me proof of membership.
3. Thery are on the site given an option to alter their callsign to a HS callsign automatically picked by the system based on the users Country. There is is a match between the country and 11m-code, it will suggest a new callsign (next available in that division)

OR

New users may not sign up with bogus callsigns at all. All callsigns are checked according to the above 3 points.

BUT

If there is an old user with a HS callsign, typically with sequence numbers below 100, then I do not make the Country matching. I think this is the scenario you are referring to.
Perheps I should make a loop through the database and match all HS calls with their stated country. Would that be a good idea?

Hi Kelly,
Thank you for your responce
i was on frequency today and made contact with a station with 2 Div prefix
(USA) but they said they had only loaded hamsphere Yesterday and where in the uk. (26 div) i asked how they got the prefix they said they couldn,t find prefix for UK so they somitted 2div prefix
if you checked data base that would fix the properleum that would be good
Thank you for a great programe

Hello Geert
The country codes are the standard. To change them would be a real mess for apparent reasons. And to Jay, the list for country codes is HERE
