I would love to see a ptt button hotkey put on the program like perhaps the spacebar on a key board.

Hello Joel and welcome to Hamsphere...... I know what you mean. But, there is the F1 button that does that.

Hello,

Would it be possible to have Hamsphere remember the last position on the screen so that each time you start up the program you don't have to reposition it back to where you prefer it to be.

If you are referring to remembering the FREQUNCY you are on or one that you use often.............

Then the MEMORY 1-9 are for you to setup. Button call VFO / MEM switches you between the VFO and MEMORY, Just like on a real radio .

With the freq displayed in the digital readout - make sure your MEM side is active the hit the Enter button on the RADIO ( above the CH+) button, You will then see that favorite freq move to a mem slot.

Next time you come to HamSphere you can retrieve that freq with ease.............

Hope that answered your question Bruce

Tks Vic but I am referring to the position of the program on the screen. Each time you start the program it defaults to the top left hand corner of the screen. Would it be possible to have it start up in the last position that you left it in ie. sitting at the bottom of the screen on the task bar. Perhaps the current position of the progam could be written to the hs20.cfg file.

Hello again,

Any possibility of this happening or has this suggestion slipped too far down the forum?
All other windows programs restart in the same position on the screen so I don't think it is asking too much.

Hi All.

It is absolutely not asking too much. I have it on my ever growing TODO list. It will be implemented in the next release.

The propagation simulation could be the same off the real bands respecting the period off day and night for 40 and 80s and the long distance and short distance conditions in 11 - 10 meters for instance. That would simulate better the real world. If that is possible, then should also be possible a virtual diretional antenna or dipole or whatever. Latter that also could follow a real world propation boletin or the server could increase or decrease the conditions like a period off good or bad sun spots. It would be a great enviroment off testing many conditions off Dxing.

It would be good to improve the experience in the exchange of QSL cards, and promote more competition and diplomas.

Thank you very much

Joel! There IS a ptt button for hamsphere on your keyboard. Its the "F1" key on the top of the keyboard. "F8" key locks the ptt down when you hit f1 key. Mike, WA1PJG.

I would appreciate the possibility to restrict the chat function to the frequency tuned in. Any chance to do this?

Hi Alfred.

There will be 4 chat modes:

1. Global chat
2. Band chat
3. Frequency chat
4. Private chat

You will be able to set these functions by a switch like
/chatmode global
/chatmode band
/chatmode qrg
/chatmode 5b4ait
/chatmode 5b4ait sm7nhc kb7ctx

The last command will create a chat session between the callsigns involved.

But these commands have not yet been implemented. I am working on them.

Echolink has a wonderful feature that helps you set up your system and your levels: the reflector.

You can connect to a special channel (available from a menu choice). Once connected, you transmit. The reflector records your signal. When you switch back to receive, the reflector plays back your transmission, letting you know exactly what your signal sounds like.

Such a reflector would be an invaluable tool for Hamsphere users, and would really help us clean up our signals.

Happy New Year!

Tom

Hello Tom.

I started working on an "echo channel" earlier but other things came between.
I assigned a "listener" on a specific QRG that relayed the audio back after a few seconds.
The code is still in the server, but not activated. Now when you bring it up I realize how handy that could be. I shall in the next release activate that echo machine again as it might come handy.

Regards
Kelly

You guys think of everything!! :)-D
Coming up with an idea is one thing.... to implement it, is great.
There are a lot of guys on HS that have some very interesting ideas to better Hamsphere. We have a collection of some very bright people here on Hamsphere and that only means that the program will continue to grow with features second to none. Great job Kelly and thanks for listening to the users!

Hi, Kelly,

That is just wonderful news!

Using a special frequency solves a lot of problems. Before I sent the suggestion, I took a good look at the interface, trying to figure out how to integrate the feature. I didn't come up with anything that wasn't a brown paper bag.

Being able to implement the echo channel without screwing up your really nice Hamsphere user interface is just brilliant.

Many thanks!

Very 73,

Tom

It would be great to implement a system of modulation simultaneously with other stations in HamSphere, such as exists in echolink warning "Doubling".

Kelly,

Thank you very much for implementing my request. It is very pleasing to get such a prompt response from the programmer. The new version (with the position on screen written to the config file) sure makes the program a lot better to use.

Only other request that I have is to maybe fix up the graphics (background) behind the volume, power and mic level as they look a tad unprofessional ie. they don't align properly. It may sound a bit trivial, but for such a great program, if it had a better interface then it would be the best Ham Radio program there is.

Maybe the idea of skinning the interface is not that bad an idea as there are many great graphic artists out there who could really turn this program into something even more special.

Again, as I said, I know you are busy maintaining the program but this is just a suggestion on how to improve the overall look and feel of Hamsphere.

And no, I am not a graphic artist and don't have the skills to be able to create something like an ICOM 7700 interface but that would be the sort of interface the program deserves.

Hi there.

Oh dear, I am 100% sure I had them aligned in the beginning. Don't know what happened.
I will fix this in the next release.

Thank you for your note.

Kelly,

No problems. Thanks for the prompt response again but don't you ever sleep.
Like I said, the only thing that needs fixing is the fine tuning of the interface.

I would like to see a logging program written in that could be installed with the program. The program could be on top of the Hamsphere or placed on the bottom. The clients/users choice. A button would be nice also that gives the users the choice to activate or deactivate the log. This would make logging such as in a contest faster. While I am at it a printable option would be nice for the log also. Just the ideas of a old man.

Kelly,

I've got a pretty nifty new log program in development, and should be ready for at least a beta release within the next couple of weeks. Windows only, unfortunately. But do you have any hooks in the program now to support an integrated logger, or are you anticipating any in upcoming releases? If so, now would be a good time for me to add the hookage to my program.

I'm thinking DDE or Windows messaging. Don't know if those are compatible with Java. I don't speak Java yet.

Very 73,

Tom

I would like to see..when a contest comes up to show it on a special area on the forum, or a banner coming across saying contest, so all are aware of it.

Tnx/73
