Hello everyone,

I've started a new hobby. That hobby is postcard swapping. It's like trading QSL cards only we trade post cards. I would like you to put your call sign and name on your post card so I know who you are and I will send you my post card with my call sign and name. I would like the touristy kind of post card, you know the ones that tourist buy and send to friends and family. This is going to be my way of traveling around the world. I only want cards from the people I have spoken to on Hamsphere. In order to get each others home address and to make sure they are correct we can PM each other here in the forums that way we know the address is correct. This is going to be fun.

Hey guys,

I sent out 4 post cards this morning. I truly hope that this is something we can all do. I know people have gotten qsl carded out but think of it this way. There are new people who would like to start a collection of QSL cards or post cards. Personally postcards are more fun. Yes you can put your call sign and what ever you put on a qsl card on a post card. Now I know HS isn't real radio but to some it's as real as it will get so just humor us and play along and send a card. Don't ruin this for others. I mean if it's not real radio why are you using the service?

Sending a postcard with a callsign ect is the same as a QSL Card.
Either way it’s a "proof of a QSO/talk" that happened between to callsign's, its all a "bragging rights" type of thing that has happened ie.
Two stations talk, swap a receipt-----QSL Card/Postcard of their talk, later in life this is a form of proof when you show your mates/grand kids that you had a talk to someone in a far off place.
If you don’t have a QSL Card/Postcard you have nothing other than your word that you spoke to someone in your Log.
It’s a form of proof of that talk for your history.
A QSL Card is only something that the individual makes for his callsign/station to reflect what he/she wants the world to see.
Postcards are a form of something that some sends to show the other station “this is where I live”
So, QSL/Postcard either is a great thing to have as long as you follow some very easy steps.
Callsign.
Name of the person.
Date/time.
There……. You have a QSL Card.
I have many QSL Cards (+/- 2000) all collected and some go back to 1922.
Using e-QSL it can be a cheap form of sending a receipt of a talk to someone.
Have fun.
Cheers Paul.

Thank you for the explanation Paul. I guess I new that. I just wanted to feel the thrill of waiting and receiving something other than bills coming in the mail. EQSL is nice and cheap but not very much fun.

Hey Jeremy,

I will be sending you a post card as per your request. I read exchange between you and Paul VK4FPDW. I agree with both you and Paul. QSL/Post card confirms QSO and thrill of receiving card in the mail. I will have to say, before I began using eQSL, I averaged +/- 20 percent return on direct QSL card exchange. Today, that adds up to $$$$. I also enjoy receiving that eQSL e-mail notification of a new card waiting for me in my in box.

Just today I received a card via e-mail download from Ali,13HS107.Even after a week after receiving my card via eQSL, Ali did not forget and took the time to "seal the deal" with his cool card.

I guess my rambling is to advise those that may not have ability to design a card, RadioQTH.net has a page you can make a FREE card on line. You can make custom card with background jpeg of your choose. Once completed, you can print them out to handwrite QSO info or add info on website right into card. Then print to mail direct.or scan into computer to send via internet. The site is [www.radioqth.net]

I made a test card with Hamsphere style call and the site allowed it and configured the card.

I must admit, I receive a higher percentage of QSL cards from Hamsphere contacts then I do with HF contacts. HF has increased via eQSL.( No I don't have eQSL stock. I just like the service)

So, be it post card or "QSL" card, snail mail or e-mail giving and getting the final 73 is ALL GOOD.

73.

Sorry to have to say it as well Ray and agree with you.
I have rec'd more cards from HS/Ham Op's callsigns members on Hamsphere than "REAL" radio QSO's (149 sent 4 rec'd back on real radio) sp thanks to you all.
So guys and girls it is a way of confirming a two QSO, I do "brag" to my other radio members from the club, but talking about a QSO to showing someone is proof is better, thou my integrity is very sound having a card in hand is better :):):).

Cheers

Paul.
