Ham Radio operators have their own satellites, can talk to kosmonauts aboard the Space Stations, and are often involved with experimental wireless technology. It is an hugely diverse and popular hobby with over six million Ham Radio operators involved over the entire world.

Ham radio enthusiasts come from all parts of life. You will find all ages, income levels and nationalities. How do you get involved?

Anyone can listen in to Ham Radio signals. In fact if you're new to ham radio, listening for a while is a good way to get the feel for the hobby. To transmit on the Ham Radio bands you should pass a simple exam which entitles you to a "Ham Radio licence"

Although you can use HamSphere without a Ham Radio license and mingle with real "Hams" on the bands there has been a growing interest in becoming a licensed Ham Radio Operator.

For starters you can visit the IARU website that will take you to the Ham Radio organisation in your country.
