Hello Forum,
I am new to CW and in the process of learning. I would like to use HS to practice and improve my skills. Could someone help me with how to start? I have bought and installed the encoder/decoder/CW plugins. I have tried to copy CW transmissions on the 30m band but since days I have not been able to get anything. Could someone help me here with how to listen CW transmissions on HS ? Thank you, Stéphane. |

Hi Stéphane.
The CW decoder plugin has a tuning knob with a very narrow tuned passband filter. Set the receiver on a CW signal so that the tone is between 500-800hz. Then adjust the tune so that you see the green led blink. The decoder will then autoadjust its speed and you should be able to pick up the CW traffic. We are also working on a koch CW trainer plugin that will provide CW learning using the good old Koch method. |

Hello,
Thank you very much for your answer, that's crystal clear. I am very impatient to discover your upcoming koch CW trainer plugin! As a non-licensed amateur radio operator, I like the idea to be able to learn and use Morse Code thru Hamsphere without limitation. Unfortunately I must say that this is very difficult for me to find Morse Code transmissions on the system. I can't say if it is my fault because I wouldn't know the right frequencies to listen to or if it is because there are not so many stations. But indeed I do not manage to catch CW transmissions easily. Thank you, Stéphane |

I found quite a lot of stations on Hamsphere 3 tonight on the 160m band between 1.805.00 and 01.820.00.
Are these frequencies dedicated to CW in HS3? Can I use a CW key in HS3? Kind regards, Stéphane |
