Hello all:

I'm attempting to follow proper etiquette and introduce myself. I just started a trial on HamSphere, which is my very first exposure to amateur radio. Thought I would give it a test spin before deciding whether to start studying for the "real thing." (quotation fingers - I hope that's not an offensive notion).

I was inspired to try HAM after reading the novel "77 Days in September."

To give you an idea of how green I am: I'm still trying to find the PPT key, and not sure if my microphone is connecting to the application. Not licensed in the slightest. I guess this means I'm in need of an "Elmer?" (Is that the right term?)

A smidgen about me:
- Male
- In my thirties
- Software engineer by day; amateur astronomer by night
- Late to the party but eager to learn

Cheers,

Ben from Colorado
