Hello, everyone on Hamsphere!
I am Mohamad from the town of Dungun, state of Terengganu, Malaysia. I have just discovered Hamsphere and I am now a paid member. If you cared to notice, my callsign starts with 98 which is Singapore. This is due my ignorance during registration time! I hope Kelly/Jerry will quickly change it to 113 to reflect West Malaysia. I am male, 56 going to 57 and is an officer with a commercial bank here. Other hobbies include photography and an aviation maniac! I have always wanted to get involved in HF commuication but, for me, the exam for the license is too difficult! Anyway, I just for a Class B ( equiv to the US Technician ) but I also found it to be difficult for me! I just draw a large blank when it comes to electronics! So, with Hamsphere, with only my laptop and a mobile broadband connection, I am now QSOing away with friends all over the world. And I am very proud to have spoken to N1TKO (:D Ok, look up for me and we'll get going! 73 de MOHAMAD |

Hello Mohamad,
First, thank you for the kind words. I will forward a message to Kelly and ask to have the prefix of your callsign changed to represent Malaysia. Keep an eye on your email so you will know when it is changed. You will need to make the change when signing in. Secondly.... I am also 57 years of age and I know how hard it is to study. Its not like when we were kids and our minds were like a sponge! BUT... Please, try to get your Ham License. It will be hard but it will be one of the most rewarding accomplishments you will ever make. Hamsphere is a great program but it just simulates what Ham radio is. Kelly has said it was his intention, while designing this software, that it would help people become interested in Ham radio and bring more people into it. This is a learning tool on how to operate and how to conduct yourself on the airwaves. The electronic theory is up to you. There is no susbstitute for real ham Radio but Hamsphere is pretty darn close!! hi hi. Study my friend..... you can do it. 73 Jerry - N1TKO |

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the response. Yes, Hamsphere's simulation of the ham radio is first class. Who would have thought, a few years ago, that we could QSOs minus the sophisticated radios and massive rotating antennas! I sincerely hope more people will be drawn into Kelly's brainchild. I will try to visit a ham radio operator living nearby to compare our two systems, not taking into consideration the hardware. And, Jerry, I agree with you when you said, I quote " There is no susbstitute for real ham Radio" 73 MOHAMAD |
