Call Sign Changing Woes

This is no longer my call sign. It is now K4XIO.
Echolink let me change it in just a few seconds and echolink is free. I have been paying for this service for three years. I am troubled that a free service lets me change my call sign but one I pay for does not. I should have to submit something and wait, This should be something that is easily accessed that we can do on our own. At least for the paying customers. This makes me feel like you really don't care about us. It makes me want to cancel. If a free echolink can do it, so can you. Please fix this and make it easier to change call signs. There is no reason not to, and no excuse. Thomas |

Hi Thomas,
please look at my answer here: http://www.hamsphere.com/read.php?7,47114,47124#msg-47124 The reason for that is to avoid, that users takes any callsign and to separate real Ham-Operators from non-licensed users (that not possible at Echolink, because you need a Ham License there!). As you know Ham-Callsigns are only given from the "official place" of a country, not from the Operators intention. And for that reason the way of checking is a little bit "complicated". Otherwise an (e.g.) US-Operator could use a "VU3...." or "DL1....." callsign and so on. 73 and good DX from Jörg :-) JO31ok Bochum / Germany |
