Problem when logging in

Hello
I seem to have a problem when logging in to the HamSphere Tx/Rx. For a few seconds the signals operate normally, then a loud buzzing noise appears and no signals can be heard. The band scope freezes. The chat window freezes, but everything else seems to work. Can change to the different bands but with nothing but loud buzzing noise. Was all working perfectly yesterday. When I power it down and log in again, the same result happens. I have AppleMac OS X 10.5.8 I wonder what could be wrong. Allan - G0TVC |

Hi Allan. To me this sounds like the audio driver timing out due to slow internet connection.
I have heard that phenomenon a few times when I cut the server. That was prior to release 2.0.11 or something. But still, the buzzing comes from the audio system and its drive that leapt amock. Have you tried the PingPlotter program to see wheter there is a congestion somewhere along the line? There are info about this is the FAQ forum and some threads. Just search for pingplotter and you will find it. Kelly 73 5B4AIT |

Ok Kelly
Thanks for coming back to me on that, and the hint about the audio. I think I may have solved it. Last night I had a few contacts using an external mike and I had to change the audio from line-in to my webcam mounted on the top of the monitor, just in case we had a call on Skype from family members. Having forgotten to change it back seems to have caused the problem, at least when I changed it back to line-in everything is working ok now. As a matter of interest I had been hoping to use the mike built into the webcam for contacts on HamSphere but for some reason it doesn't seem to work. I can hold a conversation with folk on Skype when I am the other side of the room, so I thought there would be ample gain for use on HamSphere. But no joy. Anyway I do have an external mike that does work. All the best, Allan - G0TVC |

Oh OK. That puts the thing in a different perspective. I really thought the buzzing sound was a disconnection problem and my audio driver going crazy. But this was a better option.
Do you use the switches /play and /record to select audio devices? 73 Kelly |
