Using a Keyer
(also see CW Keyboards, Straight Keys, and Paddles) You need to modify your keyer to provide a low-level audio signal output jack that you can connect to your sound card's Line In or Microphone In jack, then operate tone-modulated CW using Hamsphere's DSB mode. Your sound card's Line In or External Microphone In faders, and Hamsphere's Mic Level control, adjust your transmitted tone level. An easy place to tap off your keyer's sidetone output is right across the speaker terminals. Use a resistive L pad, and a series blocking capacitor, to attenuate the sidetone level to something compatible with your sound card's required input level range. |
