We are moving Forward in Our HamSphere Journey.

During these summer months of July and August, HamSphere traditionally witnesses a slight dip in user engagement. We've been hard at work, focused on creating a virtual Amateur Radio system that perfectly mimics real HF band propagation. We've also added a simple simulation of popular Digital Ham Radio communication platforms like D-Star, Fusion, C4FM, P25, and DMR. You might find HamSphere 2m and 70cm quite similar to DStar in terms of sound—almost like they're part of the same family.
Granted, accommodating all interests isn't a simple task. In the past, we had HS3 and HS4, which divided users based on VHF/UHF and HF communication. However, operating two separate systems became impractical, and both HS3 and HS4 underwent their own series of transformations. Our aim was to embrace the true spirit of Amateur Radio, reflecting the essence that has resonated for over a century in the Amateur Radio history.

The recent six months of HS5's operation have been quite eventful, with over 7,000 users sending around 360,000 QSL cards. Our latest contest also had participation from 140 eager operators, surpassing the usual numbers of HS4 in the day. We've designed new awards with care, thanks to our skilled design team, resulting in creations that catch the eye with vibrant colors and delightful designs.
Indeed, certain networks have faded away due to disagreements among operators—a narrative that has unfolded over the course of a decade sadly. Nets come and go, people join and part ways. As 16 years have passed, we find ourselves at HamSphere 5.0. We've unveiled the platform, and it's now in the hands of our community to decide if they want to use it. HS3 and HS4 won't be returning; this is what we have to offer. Some folks have moved on, while new members have joined. It could be a shift or perhaps a broader decline in Amateur Radio, who knows.

This is where we stand, and the ball is in your court. We're committed and I'm committed to this journey, with the spirit of Ham Radio guiding us through every twist and turn.

Recently I subscribed to Hamspere and I have to say that this program was well done. I have been a CW operator for many years and being a member of Fists (5272) I still firmly promote the use of cw. Hamshere is touted as an amateur radio with cw and cw band filters marked on the face so the question I have is why CW is not encouraged or promoted. I will be operating in cw mode and I hope to hear some activity. I will be sending in speeds from 5 wpm to 18 wpm and using the bottom of bands and freq. ending in 8 (7028 as an example). If you hear my signal I would like to receive a QSL so I will know that I am getting out. Lets keep this mode alive 73 to all

Pete, M6INJ has been maintaining the Forum for the HamSphere North America Rag Chew Net Since April of 2021, this Forum was started when one of our attendees complained that he could not read the after-net reports because he did not access Facebook.

So, our Forum was born.
Here is the question:

How important is the HamSphere North American Rag Chew Forum? Do we need to have it moved to the HS5 page (and we have asked)? Note as of April Fools Day – the HamSphere 3 web page will no longer exist, this is why we are asking.

Attention all operators

HamSphere 4.0 has been serving the community for almost 9 years. Now it is time to move on to the new platform HamSphere 5.0. The new platform is an amalgamation of both HS3 and 4 with a little bit of both. HamSphere 3.0 users will feel at home on its 6m, 2m and 70cm band. And the hard core shortwave DXers have 160-10m bands with full ionospheric simulation.

On 1 March 2023 at 00:00 the last 4.0 server is redirected to the new HamSphere 5.0 network. Operators who have built their own transceivers and created QSL card templates will find those untouched on HamSphere 5.0. The only thing that is different is that all operatiors start with a clean slate. New logbook, new contests, new awards etc.

On the HamSphere 5.0 website: https://hs50.hamsphere.com you will find all legacy data from HamSphere 3.0 and 4.0 as a lookup-database. Nothing is lost so you do not need to copy all your QSL cards or awards on those platforms.

IMPORTANT INFO 2X2 STACKS

The 2x2 stack arrays have been removed from the WebShop since long and we will replace these antennas for all owners. We are coming up on HamSphere 4.0 close down and we are sorry for the delay in handling the 2x2 stack matter. Due to the technical structure and coding of the our Online Shopping system, we can't make historic OSS One Stop Shop TAX returns (VAT) that we use for HamSphere sales. Therefore we need to do this replacement a little differently. This is how we will handle this replacement procedure:

Each 2x2 stack will be replaced by a single 7 Element Quad antenna of the corresponding band. We simply change the Antenna ID and update the price. The price of the single Quad has been and currently is 60 EUR.

Example A: If you bought your 2x2 stack for example at 80 EUR, you will get a 7 Element Quad replacement for the same band at the price of 60 EUR and you will get a HS credit refund of 20 EUR.

Example B: If you bought your 2x2 stack for say 35 EUR you will get a 7 Element Quad replacement for the same band at the price of 35 EUR and no HS Credit refund.

Example C: If you for instance made a zero value transfer of the 2x2 array or purchased the stack at 0 EUR you will get a 7 Element Quad replacement for the same band at zero value which as you know is not possible to sell in Second hand shop.

This procedure will take place 25 Feb 2023.

Firstly make a copy of your audio files from HS 4 and save off the computer preferably, then press the windows key + r on your keyboard, this will bring up the run box usually down in the left hand corner.
Type in the box %AppData% and press enter, this will bring up the roaming list and in this list is what you need for HS5, copy and paste your audio files into the audio file for HS 5 and close down every thing and you are good to go with your audio files on HS 5.
As members active in the Amateur Radio Hobby, it is a continuous learning and discovering process. Take the advent of HS5, for some it is a whole new experience, while for others it is the same jacket with a bit of colour an extra pocket. As we enjoy this hobby we also learn, and this is the point of discussion or question how do you learn?

What method or approach do you take to learn a new procedure, a new piece of equipment, or how something works. Are you a visual learner, or do you read and research.

What is your method of learning new things or do you wait for the silver spoon?
