A place for beginner CW operators

Hello everyone,

I'm learning morse code and able to send and copy around 6-8 WPM. I make mistakes sometimes, maybe too often, guess it will improve after some practice. :)

Many CW operators on Hamsphere are lightning fast (like 10-15 WPM Whoaa! :D) and I can't copy them correctly, so I cannot practice sending by answering their CQ.

It would be nice to have a place on Hamsphere where I'm able to be slow without pissing people off, and where I find folks ready for nice slow cw chat.

Does Anybody like the idea?

Hello Tamas
Happy New Year once again!! They say CW is a dying mode but to those who know it, its just a whole lot of fun.
When you call CQ, send at the speed you are comfortable with and any operator know to come back to you at the same speed. If you hear someone calling CQ and their speed is too fast, ask them to QRS, this is the "Q code" for "send slower, or shall I send slower". Most high speed operators have been around for quite a while and are VERY happy to see newcomers to the mode and 99% will slow down to accommodate you. Real Hams will anyhow!!
I hope this helps you.

Perhaps someone could start a slow speed cw practice net ? Or maybe a cw practice beacon like W1AW ? I know they have one for high speed CW on CQ100.

W1AW on the internet. Here is where you can find code practice files published by W1AW. http://www.arrl.org/w1aw/morse.html

Yepp, a slow CW net would be nice, at least I could know where and when to look for people who would like to practice.

and i will take great pride in listening to you making an effort,
Master the recieving of the code first Tamas(tu)
Remember we all had to make that nervous journey so give it a go,
the road not that easy at first, But like driving a car start slow, get used to the feel, and let the fast speeding cars past you by, and just have fun,B)
Hope to hear you soon

Yes Jerry, there are two reasons why I started to prepare for the ham license exam and one of those is ham spirit (the other one is the smell of hot soldering iron HI).

Hello Tamas!

I send in cw since the first version of hamsphere. I never learned it to keep by paddle. I use a programm called "Digital Master 780". This is a part-programm from "Ham Radio Deluxe".
I want to hear you if you work in cw-mode and will send slower, so you can hear and decode by ears>:D<. I learn for ham-licens too, but not for cw. I think, I have enough to do for learning technik and praktical parts.
I hope to hear you in cw-mode and please send "QRS".
