| it is still just a telephone line only with bits added on ariels ??? computer only connections how can you have a antenna it is no different from other proggs you use computer but do not take this the wrong way just my opion I love hf real radio BUT unable to work on the maintance echo link hams only go around the world but on comp same as cq100 you cannot beat the real thing but I am just an oldie operater everything is improving through telephone line | |

Nobody here will compare HamSphere with real HF, but it is a very good alternative to real ham-equipments and without any antenna problems! I just heard one of the admins say that the email is being sent out in small numbers. They don't want to send it to everyone at once because they fear it will overload the servers.
Given the amount of time they had to release this version, I do believe this is still unprofessional because they could at least post an announcement about it. Many companies have done something similar, but they were proactive in alerting the users to how the new software was being released. |

The number of emails is depending on the performance of a server.
On some servers i use charges of 500 emails at the same time without any problems, on other ones I have to reduce it to 150 or 200 per charge. And very good servers can send about 1.000 mails via SMTP without problems. But I can agree that many users are on HS 4 now, so they all must got this email or the link to the download. Maybe it depends on our locations. As i wrote in the other thread it could be another way to open a support-ticket to the HS-staff. 73 and good DX from Jörg :-) JO31ok Bochum / Germany |

same here in DL , would be so easy for him to write 15 - 30.Aug and then noone had become disappointed . Sorry for the work to get 4.0 finished having now such a bad start with people even getting pretty angry and frustrated . Bad publicity for a new age of ham software . |

| Hi, does anyone know if there is a time scale for sending out the emails to invite subscribers onto HS4. I am looking forward to trying the software. Hi Adrian,
after you got the download-link, you'll have a short manual there as well. I think the intention of the delay is to bring not in all users at the same time. So it is possible to watch the server-load step by step, before he is breaking down with 2000 or more users at the same time. I think there should at least be some mention on the front page, within the 4.0 blurb, of what's going on. You see the announcement and you look for the link to download, and it's not there. That's frustrating, especially when you've been checking Hamsphere.com every day for the last few months.
Also, someone please tell me if I'm misunderstanding something here. Whenever I log on and listen, I check to see how many users are online. I started here in early April, and the average was 90-120. Nowadays it seems like 40 is the average. Does this really mean that only 40 people are using Hamsphere at that moment, and if so, does anyone really expect that to grow with the (real) release of 4.0? Because I hear the same people talking on the same bands these days, and I don't see how a fancier interface is going to change that much. I'd be thrilled to find out there's something I didn't understand about the number of users, so please tell me if that's the case. Not trying to be a doomsayer, but from my uneducated point of view it sure seems like this is a dying concern. I really hope that's not the case. DJ KG7MXA |

| hams what sort of price,s will add on,s be just a hint would do because some people have not large amounts of money to spend might have some saved up by the time it starts everything takes time so just wait and see what happens nothing can be made in a instant I know now I will be able to use hams 4 because my pension will not allow me to spend spend | |

turning on at 13.00 UTC , not a single QSO going on = ???? doctor just gave me another 5 years to live with my illness , wonder that will be enough to ever start with hamsphere 4 , hi hi . |

forcing payed members to become member of facebook just to get information for software they paid for .., mhhh ?
read all on facebook , understood = many problems , found download page , but not allowed to download ...... no info page about the costs of moduls = ?? no wonder about so few activities on 3.0 while many others are on 4.0 , DX cluster tells me that we are NOT together but devided into two parts as the cluster for 3.0 and for 4.0 shows comlete different callsigns , let call them the lucky ones and the ones left behind . ., it is as in real life ... |

Ok, the 2 different clusters are not the problem I think. The reason for that is: There are different servers, databases and environments.
It's the same as on real HF: If you would listen to the real 40 meters band now, you would hear other callsigns than on HS 4 as well. I think the idea for the future is: HS 3 is good for beginners, new users and so on and HS 4 is the next step for users with real Ham experience or a lot of HS 3 time.
