The right QSL behaviour is very easy to do

Dear operators

In times of the first hamsphere awards many people are trying very hard to get one of the different awards - others don't. But those who are sending out QSL-cards can expect to get a card back. This I think is part of a good ham spirit - whether they are hunting new countries or not.
Imagine that only one QSL-card is needed to get to the next award and this operator is not answering could be very annoying.

So please bear in mind that answering to a QSL-card is not only polite but also part of our hobby. And the hamsphere QSL-system is more than easy and cannot be compared with the sometimes long termed QSL procedure on the real ham bands. And it is fast, even you can send your QSL answer while still speaking to your QSO partner.

Not all but many operators are dependent on your return QSL-cards to work upon their awards.

Thank you for your attention.

Yes! So far, I've received only about 8 cards for every 10 I send. Very disappointing, especially because I always send one.

I was one of those who you speak about when I was at 24 rec'd I had to make 10 more calls before I got my 25th card. It was more frustrating then when my wife gave birth to my daughter Emma. Let's really tru to send cards back to each other.

I agree with the others... I'm getting a 90% return on those sent.

That's good enough for me. I do this for longer in depth QSOs. So there's no head hunting here. But there have been a couple of cards I *really* wanted because of location or personal reasons...

But all in all, if a missed QSL card is the worst of it... I can live with it.

Hello All:

I am right there with you on being frustrated when I don't receive a QSL card that I really want. However, it is important to realize that not all the stations on HS are currently running version 3.0. Some are still using the older version which does not have the log book or QSL system. Also, there are some who have had trouble, for one reason or another, with getting a card made. Also, when you're a DX station on the receiving end of a pile-up it is not trivially easy to get all the contacts properly logged and cards sent.

We're definitely "spoiled" by the QSL exchange on HamSphere! It is infinitely easier and quicker than on real Ham Radio, where an 80-90% return rate would be considered pretty darn great. But, Ido understand that this is one of the advantages of HamSphere and we would like to see it utilized. I try to be understanding of stations which aren't running 3.0 or don't have a card. All I ask is that they just tell me that they can't/don't send cards so that I don't just keep waiting for it to arrive.

Above all, have fun.
