Dear Operator.
If you are a DX-Hunter you may recently have seen a discrepancy in your log and DXHC award numbers. The reason for the changed data is that we have unfolded a DX-Scam on a limited scale. Nine accounts created with IP numbers inside DX countries, have managed to trick our system and the perpetrator(s) managed to "impersonate" nine different personalities from nine different countries. Our rigid security system alerted us and we have been doing an investigation to track down the individual(s) The transmissions have all orginated from Moscow, Russia and one or possibly a few operators have deliberately purchased subscriptions to overcome some of our built in security-mechanisms. We regret that some operators have attempted to operate in this fraudulent way. The fake and impersonated accounts are: 162hs107 85HS111 ZA1FK 223hs100 220hs106 (RE-ISSUED to Legit DX-User from SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES) 175HS100 86HS126 5Z4JX 156HS105 All accounts have been deleted including log entries and QSL cards. We have installed a new blocking mechanism so that DX-Callsigns cannot be used in any other country than origin even if a subscription is purchased. We have also gone through the database and we do not find any other anomalies than those above. HamSphere has an advantage over real Ham radio and that is the ability to pinpoint the exact country of origin by using IP numbers. I trust that you as an operator of HamSphere feel that we do everything we can to present legit and real countries for you to QSO. Kind regards Kelly Lindman 5B4AIT Founder |
